Work Online Travelling
Freelancer, entrepreneur, contractor - if what you do for a living doesn't come with set hours or a fixed office location, why not spend your time travelling the world and get paid as you go?
Remote working is becoming increasingly common as we all look for a better work/life balance and take advantage of available technology. Here are 5 reasons why you should work online and travel the world.
Get a better work life/balance
Working for a company in the US or the UK whilst living in a country where the cost of living is lower, such as part of the Far East including Asia, means your money will go much further. You could find you end up being able to save a substantial chunk towards your future travels, or a property deposit for if and when you eventually return home!
Freedom
There's nothing quite so freeing as working in Moscow one day and then heading for the beach in Greece the next. Whether you choose to put down roots in one location for a few months or travel around, all you need is your laptop or tablet, mobile phone and gadget travel insurance (plus an internet connection) and you're ready to make some money!
Experience new things
When you're older and you look back on your youth, you'll remember the amazing experiences you had. Soaking up new cultures, learning a new language and immersing yourself in the local way of life, wherever your travels take you, will be unforgettable. Just don't forget to do some work now and again!
Get a better work life/balance
In the UK, we work some of the longest hours in Europe, and that lack of work/life balance isn't doing much for our rising stress levels. Everybody needs time off, and by travelling the globe, you'll have an excuse for mornings off to explore the local market or weekends off to laze on the beach - there will be so much to see and do that working will probably be the last thing on your mind.
The lower cost of living in some countries could also make it easier for you to achieve a better work/life balance, as with lower rent and less bills to worry about, you can put in less hours at the office (or on the beach with your laptop) Just don't forget your cheap gadget travel insurance in case you spill that cocktail on your netbook.
Stories to tell
If you work in a creative role, such as a writer, designer or artist, working online and travelling the world gives you stories to tell and inspiration for your work. The places you see and the people you meet will fuel your creativity far more than being stuck in a dark, dingy London office.
