Top Travel Destinations for Easter

It's almost spring-time, but across parts of the UK you would hardly know that winter was coming to an end. Time to pack your suitcase and head for one of our top travel destinations for Easter - guaranteed to lift the winter blues.

Paris

The city of lights is the most romantic destination in the world, but if you're travelling alone it can still be a great place to visit.

In fact, Paris is filled with lone travellers, who come here to soak up the chic French ambience, people-watch in the cafes and enjoy the culture.

Why not stroll around the Louvre or the Musee D'Orsay, followed by lunch at a traditional Creperie in Montparnasse. Some mid-afternoon shopping on the Champs Elysees is guaranteed to give you an appetite for a cafe au lait and Macarons (a French delicacy) as you watch the world go by from a pavement cafe in Montmartre.

End the day climbing the steps of the Buttes Chaumont to the white-washed Sacre Coeur basilica, where you can enjoy stunning views over the city at dusk - the perfect end to a perfect day.

Brussels

A visit to Brussels is a trip you will never forget. Stay on the outskirts of the city and enjoy the stroll along tree lined avenues to the nearest tram stop, for a slice of traditional Belgian life.

Feel like a local as you purchase patisseries in the local bakery and head for the Grand Place, where you can enjoy a Belgian beer in the scorching sunshine (hopefully!) as you take in the magnificent Gothic facades - it really is one of Europe's loveliest city squares.

Don't forget to visit the Manneken-Pis, a fountain featuring a little boy doing what little boys do best. Afterwards explore the local shops and enjoy traditional Belgian waffles with chocolate sauce and cream, available from most restaurants in the area.

Take a day trip to Bruges for a slice of old Belgium and some great photo opportunities in this quaint, historic town.

Rome

Rome in the spring is cooler than the summer months, with temperatures averaging 10 to 12 degrees centigrade.

It's the best time for sightseeing in the city, with most of the tourist attractions quieter than in the summer months.
