Top Family destinations

Going on holiday with the family can feel more like work than pleasure if you end up somewhere that doesn't really cater to your needs. Small children need a safe environment in which they can play without needing a parent constantly holding their hand and older children need entertainment to avoid the trap of spending the holiday hearing the dreaded complaint of 'I'm bored'. Meanwhile the adults want to be able to enjoy themselves with a little grown up time that doesn't involve endlessly throwing small children around in the swimming pool or being buried under increasingly elaborate sand creations.

The perfect holiday destination for a family incorporates something for everyone and as such there are a variety of fantastic spots which fit the bill. For a holiday that will delight adults and children alike, there are a number of purpose designed resorts which are specifically set up to cater for families and have so many amenities on hand that you will barely need to leave your hotel to have a fabulous time. One such resort is the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas which is based on the theme of the lost continent and is near continent sized with over 20,000 guest rooms, 38 restaurants and so many activities that nobody can possibly be stuck for entertainment. There are also over 50,000 sea creatures so anyone who enjoys a glimpse into life beneath the ocean will be more than amply provided for.

Another family friendly holiday is a stay at a theme park, where entertainment is laid on in spades from the most child-friendly roundabouts to more adult oriented rides and evening entertainment. Probably the most famous theme parks for family holidays are the Disney resorts in California and Florida as well as their European counterpart in France. With themed accommodation, entry to the parks and a number of other facilities included, these make ideal destinations for family holidays which offer children the chance to make magical memories as well as giving the adults plenty of excitement.

For families who appreciate a little luxury with kids who want to experience what it's like to live on a tropical island, there are places where you can have both, such as the Hilton Waikoloa Village in Hawaii. With all the extravagances that you could wish for as an adult, there are luaus in the evenings along with traditional dancing and music. For the children, there is a day camp where they can learn about the native flora and fauna as well as exploring tropical gardens and even go swimming with dolphins.

However you and your family choose to spend your holidays, there is somewhere which will suit you down to the ground and as long as you have the whole family covered with appropriate travel insurance you can really kick back and relax while you're away.
