Top Budget Destinations

Here are our top 5 destinations for those on a tight budget, perfect for students, couples or anyone who's watching their pennies.

Cornwall

It might not be the most exotic destination on the planet, but a holiday in Cornwall will let you enjoy sun, sea and sand without an expensive flight to pay for. You can arrive by train, car or bus and have a relaxing week of fun with your partner or family for less than the cost of a flight to Spain.

Head for the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno, just 4 miles from Land's End; this stone ampitheatre is carved into the cliffs with magnificent sea views and a romantic evening watching a performance of Shakespeare here is the perfect way to begin your holiday.

Paris

Paris can be expensive, but for those in the know, it's the perfect budget break. Book a return bus ticket for around £70 and organise a stay in an apartment to cut your accommodation costs; with studios available from around £30 a night, you'll have facilities to prepare your own breakfast and even dinner if you want.

When eating out, look for the 'Menu' where you can enjoy two or three courses for just a few euros. There are plenty of free things to do in Paris - stroll past the Eiffel Tower at night, picnic in the Champs de Mars, or wander along the Seine gazing into each other's eyes.

Blackpool

To some, it might be a little run down, but Blackpool remains one of our most popular travel destinations. Stay at a family-run guesthouse and wake up to a full English every morning, enjoy a day of thrilling rides at the Pleasure Beach and stroll on the beach as the sun sets. Perfect!

Shere

The pretty village of Shere in Surrey is probably best known as the location for the film 'The Holiday' starring Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jude Law.

Picturesque in winter and pretty in summer, all you need to do is enjoy long country walks, hearty food at the local pubs and perhaps a day trip to Guildford, if you're feeling flush.

Bulgaria

If you absolutely can't resist the lure of a sunny beach in Europe, Bulgaria is perfect.

You'll find 3-star hotels for around 40 Euros a night and can enjoy topping up your tan on Sunny Beach all day long, with an endless supply of cheap happy hour deals to keep you happy.

A secluded, deserted beach it isn't, but it's cheap, sunny and the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

You can enjoy these destinations no matter how tight your budget is this summer; so what are you waiting for? Now you just need to convince your other half.......
