Top 5 UK holidays

If you want to explore the UK on holiday and choose a break which really shows off the very best of what our country has to offer, then there are some spots you should consider when deciding where to go. However, just because you are travelling in the UK it's still important to ensure that you have proper travel insurance in place. You might not have to worry about paying for healthcare, but it's still important to have your possessions covered. Also make sure that you have a policy that will protect you from losing out if you should need to cancel due to an un-expected illness or an emergency.

One of the most popular destinations amongst UK dwellers and international visitors alike is, of course, London. With so many iconic landmarks, you could spend weeks there and still find new attractions to visit, from the ancient such as the Tower of London, built by William the Conqueror in 1078 and Shakespeare's Globe which was originally built in 1599, to the much more modern such as the London Eye and the Olympic site. In the evenings there are a host of award-winning shows, both in the world-famous West End and in other theatres all around the city. If you enjoy shopping then there are several places where you can find anything you could possibly want, from fashion to fine food and everything in between.

If you prefer to get away from the city and enjoy a bit of rural living, then the UK has a number of National Parks which offer the opportunity to get close to nature, enjoy some truly fresh air and even spot some wildlife. With 15 different National Parks throughout England, Scotland and Wales and plenty of ways to enjoy them from gentle strolls and picnics to extreme sports, there really is something for everyone.

Anyone wanting a beach holiday can choose from a range of beautiful seaside resorts, including Torbay which is known as the English Riviera due to its mild climate, sandy beaches and a number of leisure activities allowing visitors to indulge their hobbies or try out new ones.

For many of us, travelling to one of the other countries in the UK is a real treat and sampling some of the dramatic differences in culture, whether you explore the hustle and bustle of Glasgow, the cosmopolitan city of Belfast, the coastal city of Swansea or the fascinating history of Liverpool, everyone can have a fabulous time learning about somewhere new.

The UK also has a wide variety of stately homes and heritage buildings which make fascinating visiting, including the houses of famous figures such as Shakespeare, Churchill and members of the Royal family amongst many, many others which are educational to visitors and offer a chance to step into the country's history.
