Top 5 couple summer destinations

Whether it's your first holiday abroad as a loved-up couple, a celebration of a special occasion or just a chance for the two of you to have some quality time together, here are the top 5 destinations for couples this summer!

Paris

Paris will always be top of the list when it comes to romance and provided you're not looking to laze on a beach all day, it's perfect! Climb the Eiffel Tower, it's most beautiful when lit up at night. There you can enjoy the most romantic meal of your life at the Jules Verne restaurant as you look out over Paris. Alternatively, head underground and cling to each other in the creepy dark atmosphere of Paris' catacombs for a romantic experience of a different kind.

Goa

For couples dreaming of a deserted beach paradise, you can't go wrong with Goa. Whilst you could spend all day on the sandy white beaches sipping cocktails and rubbing sun tan lotion into one another, there's also a wide range of water sports and other activities to enjoy - why not try elephant riding for the ultimate thrill!

The Maldives

Many resorts in the Maldives are designed for couples only. Where else could you rent your very own beach house set on stilts over the crystal clear blue waters. You can dangle your feet in the sea, catch fish from a hatch in the hut's floor, or sit sipping cocktails on your own pier together. It doesn't get much more romantic than this!

Orkney

Ok, so the weather might not be hot and there may be no white sandy beach that you'd want to sunbathe on, but a holiday to remote Orkney holds its own charms. For couples looking to get away from it all and reconnect, this tiny Scottish island is perfect. Switch off your mobile phones and tablets, rent a cottage on the coast and enjoy days walking and nights listening to live music at the local pub. The people are friendly, the Scottish cuisine is warming and delicious and you'll never experience a more relaxed break in your whole life! Even though you're holidaying in the UK, make sure you have travel insurance to cover you and your partner in case of accident or illness; it's best to be prepared.

Italy

Italy is one of the most romantic countries in the world, but rather than being a walking cliche and heading for Rome, get off the beaten track a bit and head for the hilltop village of Positano. This picture-perfect tiny village is carved into the Italian hillside not far from Sorrento. As you wind your way down the steps toward the village centre, passing underneath bougainvillea covered arches, the view of the bay with its azure waters is nothing short of breathtaking! When you're looking for some nightlife and shopping, Sorrento isn't far away!
