Sunny destinations not to miss out on

Are you longing for some sun after the hit and miss British weather, luring you in with sunshine one second and raining on your parade the next? Then you'll love our handy guide to the sunny destinations you can't afford to miss out on this summer.

Campania

The region of Campania in Italy has several well-known tourist destinations that are renowned not only for their sunny weather, but also local hospitality and delicious food and wine. Rome, Naples and Sorrento are three very different destinations which all share a love of the good life. Enjoy moped hire or wandering around the bustling streets of Rome, then head for a tour of the Vatican and a few pictures at the Coliseum. In Naples, sample the local ice cream and try your very hardest not to be won over by the shouts of 'Ciao, bella!' from every passing Vespa rider. A break in Sorrento is perfect if you're looking for a more relaxed pace of life - this small town is filled with street markets, shops selling local goods and tempting restaurants and bars. Perfect for those looking to soak up some sun and unwind on holiday.

Pefkos

The charming beach resort of Pefkos is located on the eastern coast of Rhodes, close to the village of Lindos, with its distinctive white-washed houses. It's a sleepy resort and ideal if you're looking for a relaxing break. Miles of golden sandy beach are complemented by beach-side bars and restaurants serving Greek meze; the local hummus is something you really have to try! Lindos is a great day trip, with its quaint winding alleyways and street markets and of course the Acropolis - bring a bottle of water and plenty of sun screen if you're planning on climbing all the way to the top!

Sun Protection

No matter where you choose to head for some sun this summer, make sure you're protected - and we don't just mean slather on the factor 30! Taking out travel insurance to cover yourself and your family in case the worst happens on your holiday is essential for peace of mind. From minor accidents and injuries to serious illness such as food poisoning, the last thing you need to worry about on holiday is how you're going to afford to pay expensive medical fees. With competitively priced travel insurance, it's easy to ensure you have medical cover, baggage cover and even cancellation or curtailment cover in case your travel plans change unexpectedly.
