Popular summer destinations

Getting away for a summer break is always a treat and planning is often the start of the fun, but if you are stuck for inspiration then it's always worth considering some of the most popular holiday destinations to see if any of them appeal.

As home to many ex-pats, Spain has always been a popular country amongst holiday makers, with warm weather, spectacular scenery and a whole host of activities for anyone wanting to organise a holiday with bit of excitement. There are several regions which are well known as holiday destinations such as Barcelona, Palma and Seville which are very popular amongst people who want a city break. Then there are the Balearic Islands of Majorca and Ibiza and the Canary Islands including Tenerife and La Palma for anyone who wants to soak up the sun with a beach holiday.

France also has a lot to offer for those on holiday, with something for everyone no matter what your idea of a perfect break. From active holidays such as golfing, cycling or skiing breaks to getaways based around typically French pursuits such as winemaking, cooking or even eating gourmet food, France has so much to see and do, it's no wonder it's so popular with holidaymakers the world over.

For a break which can really offer everything and with the benefit of no language barrier, the United States has a lot to offer. From iconic cities such as New York, Los Angeles and of course the capital, Washington DC to beautiful countryside which includes rolling plains, imposing mountains, deserts and swamp land. The list of things to see and do is almost endless, from the well-known ones such as Disney theme parks, the lights and sights of Las Vegas and Mount Rushmore, to more eclectic and unusual attractions such as a building shaped like a coffee pot in Pennsylvania, Foam Henge, a replica of the original rendered in foam in the countryside of Virginia, or perhaps even a trip to Roswell to see the results of their 1940's alien encounter. 

Wherever you choose to holiday and however you choose to spend your time while you're there, you should always include travel insurance in your plans to make sure you are covered for any eventualities. An adventure is much more fun if you don't have to worry about losing your luggage, sustaining a costly injury or even just dropping your camera.
