Olympics Escape

With the Olympics just around the corner, every advert on TV and in newspapers is full of the forthcoming sporting event. For many people in the UK, this is cause for great excitement but not everyone feels the same way.

If the sight of the famous five rings makes you switch off the TV, it might be worth escaping the country when the Games are at their peak. Because if you think things are bad now, just wait until the Olympics actually start.

Those that live in and around London, or one of the other venues hosting an event are likely to be swamped with tourists from both the UK and overseas. This is going to make it difficult for people to go about their ordinary lives, such as travelling to work. Therefore, even if you don't particularly mind the furore surrounding the Olympics, a getaway could still be a good idea.

Although many countries around the world participate in the Olympics it is far easier to escape than at home. If you really want to get away from the madness, you could always enjoy a back to nature experience, such as camping on the continent, where the only flame will be the flickering of a campfire.

However, you don't necessarily have to go overseas to get away from the Olympics. There are many parts of the UK which are not hosting an event and there are a number of secluded hotels which are specifically offering an 'Olympic-free' break. You might just find there are more people who feel the same way about the Games than you would have guessed!

The good news is that even with the Olympics due to start in just a matter of days, you don't need to make your mind up just yet. There are lots of cheap, last minute Olympic escapes on offer so if you stick it out as long as you can and then simply need to have a break, you won't find it difficult to enjoy a getaway overseas without breaking the bank.
