Insurefor.com reminds Brits to take out COVID-protection travel insurance when booking staycations

As hotels and holiday accommodations are reopening across the UK and restrictions are easing, Brits are embracing the summer staycation so Insurefor.com reminds travellers to ensure they are covered for UK breaks as well as trips abroad.

Insurefor.com’s new COVID-protection product provides cover for cancellation and curtailment both pre-departure and during a trip. Consumers will not have to pay an additional cost for the new product as it will automatically be included when they purchase travel insurance from insurefor.com.

For those travelling in the UK, the new policy (including cancellation as standard) includes:

Before your trip:

  • Cover if you, your travel companion or any person you have arranged to stay with during your trip tests positive for coronavirus within 14 days of the start of the trip or is admitted to hospital due to coronavirus within 28 days of the start of the trip
  • Cover if you, or any person youintended to travel with, who is a member of the Armed Forces, emergency services, the nursing profession or a government employee being ordered to return to duty
  • The policy can be cancelled if the UK or your local area enters lockdown again within 14 days of purchase

During your trip:

  • Cover if you have checked in at your holiday accommodation but they need to close as a result of the coronavirus

Antony Martin, Managing Director at insurefor.com says: “As Brits are starting to book staycations, we want to remind them that it is important to take out travel insurance to ensure they are covered for cancellation and curtailment. While restrictions are easing, it is not possible to predict the progress of the pandemic. UK cities and regions may go back into lockdown if there is a spike in cases, so we advise Brits to ensure they have the necessary cover, should their chosen accommodation be required to close. Our new travel insurance product protects consumers against COVID-related issues both pre-departure and during their stay to ensure they don’t lose out if their UK holiday is cancelled.”

Insurefor.com can provide UK cover for a two-night minimum stay. Insurance rates start from £6.15 per person for a couple or £3.97 per person for a family of two adults and two children, based on a five-night stay in the UK.
