Flying solo this Easter? Check out some of these cities

Everyone knows that Rome and Paris are great city break destinations, but if you're planning a solo break this Easter, why not check out some of the up-and-coming cities that offer great value for money, culture, and the opportunity to experience somewhere new?

Barcelona

Barcelona has been a popular choice for city breaks for years, and there's plenty to see here. Why not visit the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell to see Gaudi's work, book tickets to a live music performance at the Gran Teatre de Lieu or relax with some tapas and local vermouth at one of the city's many tapas bars? Or Climb Montjuic Mountain for stunning panoramic city views. Don't miss the opportunity to stroll along the Lower Raval with its independent shops and cafes.

Marrakech

Marrakech has something to offer all travellers, whether you're looking to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city or stay near the outskirts for jeep desert safaris. There's plenty to keep solo travellers amused - take a day trip to Agadir or Casablanca for beaches, or head for Africa's biggest square, Jemma el-Fnaa, where you'll find hundreds of market stalls, snake charmers and street performers. The Medina in Marrakech's old town is a great place to start your walking tour of the city; and it's easy to while away a whole day exploring the labyrinthine souks with their wares. When travelling alone, don't forget your single trip travel insurance - so you're protected if you get ill abroad or lose your luggage!

Chisinau

Moldova's little-known capital city is the perfect spot for a solo city break this Easter. With its 19th-century architecture and green spaces (it has more green spaces than any other city in Europe), there is plenty to see and do here, and the city is known for its fine wine. The best museums, restaurants and cafes can be found just a short stroll from B-dul Stefan cel Mare, the city's main road. Visit the Pushkin Museum or National Ethnographic and Nature Museum, spend a sunny afternoon strolling around Parcul Catedralie, one of the city's finest parks, or head for Chisinau's very own Arc de Triomphe in the city centre. With cheap single trip travel insurance, you'll be protected no matter what you decide to get up to! Solo travel can be exciting, and there are plenty of great European destinations to explore this Easter. So think outside the box and visit some of the more off-the-beaten-track cities to discover what they have to offer for yourself!
