February's Top Holiday Destinations

Beach Holiday Vacation Caribbean

The Mediterranean may be cold and wet at this time of year, but there are plenty of other hot destinations for couples, families and solo travellers looking to escape the winter weather in the UK this February. Here are a few of the best to give you some inspiration.

Morocco

Just three hours’ flying time from the UK, Morocco is a popular choice for those heading abroad in February − no wonder, as average temperatures here reach around 20°C. There is plenty on offer, from the bustling markets of Marrakech to horse riding or hiking in the Atlas Mountains. You could even book an adventure tour if you fancy something active.

Oman

If it is luxury you are after, Oman in the Arabian Gulf is an excellent choice. Five-star hotels, rich history, desert dunes, stunningly isolated sandy beaches and temperatures of around 25°C ensure Oman is popular in February. With eight hours of sunshine a day, there is plenty of time to top up your tan. For nightlife, shopping and entertainment, Dubai is a short journey away.

Canary Islands

For something a little closer to home, the Canary Islands are just four hours’ flying time from the UK and there are plenty of direct flights to Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Lanzarote from a range of airports across the country. This family-friendly destination is ideal if you are looking for a relaxing beach holiday with plenty to see and do, and temperatures in February average around 21°C.

The Caribbean

Most islands in the Caribbean are around eight hours’ flying time from the UK. February is one of the best times of the year to visit the Caribbean, with around nine hours of sunshine and temperatures of up to 28°C. The Cayman Islands, St Lucia and Barbados are always popular options; alternatively, for a more laid-back, relaxed pace, head for Tobago. Adults-only resorts such as Sandals are an excellent option for those who want to be pampered − or anyone celebrating Valentine's Day − with all-inclusive holidays on offer.

Valentine's Day city breaks

Let's not forget that 14th February is the most romantic day of the year − Valentine's Day! Paris is the obvious choice to woo your sweetheart − or pop the question − although after the recent attacks it may be quieter this year. Don't let this put you off, as there are plenty of great deals on accommodation to be had. Impress your partner with lunch or dinner at the Jules Verne restaurant atop the Eiffel Tower and romance is sure to blossom. Wherever you head this February, don't forget to pack your sun tan lotion. It might not be sunny here in the UK, but the weather abroad is much warmer.
