Family Travel Insurance – children between 0 – 17 go free!

If you're taking the kids on holiday this summer, you'll know just how quickly the spending can add up as you watch your bank balance decrease! Not only is there the flight and hotel to pay for, but you need spending money too and of course everyone needs new summer clothes, swimming costumes and beach towels, not to mention the huge array of toiletries, sun lotion and first aid items that any family needs to pack for a safe and happy break! But there are ways to save money on your summer holiday.

Kids Go Free

Whilst kids might not go free on your holiday of choice, there are places where kids do go free! Look out for family friendly restaurants offering deals where kids eat for nothing (or next to nothing) and take advantage of facilities at your hotel - there are often kids clubs which will look after and entertain the little ones for the day whilst you go about your sightseeing! It is even possible to get free travel insurance for your kids. Rather than taking out separate policies for every family members, why not take advantage of family travel insurance? This could quite literally save you a fortune, with many insurance companies offering free cover for children aged 0-17 (although the age range can vary from provider to provider, so always double check). With family policies starting from as little as £10 and providing up to £10 million worth of emergency medical cover, you really can't afford to be without family travel insurance this summer, whether you're jetting off to Spain or somewhere more exotic.

Budget Wisely

Another great way to ensure you save money on your summer holidays is to set yourself a budget. This doesn't have to be as miserable as it sounds - just workout how much money you are taking with you, divide this by the number of days and you have your daily family budget. For older children, you might want to divide this up so that they can have their own cash to spend as they please. This way it's easy to know how much you can spend in a day and plan your activities accordingly. Going to an expensive attraction in the morning is fine, but this means you need to cut back for the rest of the day. A great way to save on holiday is to enjoy picnics - after all, the weather is warm and sunny and you'll spend a lot of your time on the beach. You could make your own picnics with local ingredients picked up at a nearby store, or head for stalls and shops selling takeaway sandwiches and drinks - it's easy to enjoy a picnic lunch most days!

These are just a couple of ideas to help you save money on your family holiday this summer so you'll have a little bit more left when you return home!
