2015 travel trends - where will they take you?

It's almost spring (already), so if you haven't yet booked your summer holiday this year, it's time to start thinking about it! This year there are some emerging travel trends which could influence not only the way you book your holiday, but where you end up too - we take a look at some of them.

Independent travel

With more people than ever before using the internet to book their flights and accommodation - as many as eight out of ten people book their main holiday online - independent travel is becoming the norm. This means the days of the package holiday, whilst not over, may be well and truly numbered. Whilst package holidays are still convenient for those travelling with children or looking for the convenience of something that's quick to book, savvy travellers can often find the best deals on flights and accommodation by booking them separately online and using comparison sites. The same goes for cheap annual multi-trip travel insurance - it's more affordable than ever before and can be organised online with insurefor in minutes, so you'll be covered wherever you end up on holiday!

Exotic shores

It's becoming more common to travel not only further for our holidays, but to visit more exotic locations too. Destinations which have become popular in recent years include Croatia and Hungary, as well as parts of Asia such as Sri Lanka. Make sure you have worldwide cover on your annual multi-trip insurance if you're jetting off to a far-flung destination this year!

Cruises

Cruises are an increasingly popular choice and are set to remain popular for 2015. Whether you decide to explore the Greek Islands or take off to the Bahamas, a cruise is a great way to relax, enjoy on-board activities and leave your worries at home - plus you get to see more than one destination without worrying about travel arrangements!

Closer to home

It may come as a surprise to learn that many Brits are holidaying closer to home in the UK and Ireland. The advantages of enjoying a holiday in the UK are many - firstly, there are no visas or jabs to worry about, secondly, everyone speaks English and thirdly, there are no expensive flights to book. Families with young children can enjoy seaside breaks in Devon and Cornwall or visiting the theme parks in Blackpool, whilst couples might enjoy renting a cottage in a peaceful location close to the great outdoors and a selection of cosy pubs.
