Third of Brits forego travel insurance on a ski holiday

With half term just around the corner and ski resorts reporting another good year for snow, many Brits are gearing up for a ski holiday.

While it’s great to see so many people wanting to indulge in some winter sports, too many are hitting the slopes without adequate insurance.

At the end of last year, Foreign Office research revealed that nearly a third of Brits do not take out any travel insurance for their winter sports holidays.

With a broken leg in the Italian Alps costing more than £4,000 (including medical fees and repatriation) or a spinal injury in France costing about £6,400, skiers are taking more risks than they think when they hit the slopes uninsured.

Those that do take out a policy should take some time to read the small print too, some insurers won’t cover skiers for any off piste shenanigans while others may leave you short on equipment problems.

Fortunately, insurefor.com has got it covered with its skiing travel insurance.

Starting from £8.72, the travel insurance firm offers policies covering skiing, cross-county skiing, snowboarding and even off-piste skiing in designated areas.

Up to £1,000 of ski equipment can also be covered as well as the all-important lift pass.
