Home and away: Leading family destinations for the October half term

Depending on how you look at it, October half-term is either a blessing or a nightmare - it's no mean feat trying to keep the kids amused, but it does give you a good excuse to enjoy a few days off work! Escape on a family holiday to one of our top destinations for a half-term break to remember this year. The end of the summer season is a great time to head south and explore destinations such as Crete or Turkey - it's usually possible to bag a budget beach holiday for less and the weather will be lovely too!

Morocco

Morocco is one of our top destinations for cheap family travel this October half term - it's just three hours away and there is plenty to keep kids (and adults) of all ages amused. Tour the kasbahs, go climbing in the Atlas Mountains or stay in a riad in Marrakech.

Devon and Cornwall

In the UK there are plenty of options too; you don't need to jet off abroad. Cornwall and Devon are both still quite warm (usually!) at this time of year - why not book a luxury break or enjoy a self-catering cottage holiday near the coast. The sandy beaches and quaint towns ensure the kids will never be bored.

The Algarv

When half-term fever takes hold, head for The Algarve. It’s family-friendly and there's plenty to keep mum and dad busy too. Many hotels have kids clubs which feature plenty of activities and sports for all ages, so you can laze on the beach whilst the kids burn off their energy.

Northern Ireland

Why not enjoy a break to Northern Ireland for something a little different this half term? Explore the Giant's Causeway, go pony trekking or spend an afternoon shopping in Belfast city centre. There's plenty here for all ages and it's cheap to travel by ferry, or take a flight from most major UK airports.

No matter where you head this half term, make sure you have your family travel insurance organised with insurefor.com before you head off. Kids go free on family insurance policies, so that's one less thing to worry about! Cover starts from just a few pounds, and protects the whole family, no matter what you get up to on your travels - make sure you don't leave home without it!
