Experience Christmas Sunshine

Whilst the weather in the UK is still quite bright for many of us, the nights are getting colder and darker and it won't be long before it's grey, cold and icy out there! Sitting at home in front of an open fire is all very well, but why not jet off to the summer sun this Christmas - you can work on your tan whilst everyone else is eating their turkey! Here are some of the best locations that you can't afford to miss.

New Zealand

Head for Kaikoura Bay - whilst everyone in the UK is celebrating a white Christmas, it's the height of summer in New Zealand and traditional festive celebrations always begin with a barbecue. Kaikoura Bay is also a great place to explore and relax - hike through the rainforests of the Kaikoura mountain range or take to the open water to spot sperm whales, dolphins and fur seals.

Puerto

Expect to enjoy plenty of sunshine in pretty Puerto Rico at Christmas - you may even find yourself dancing to Jingle Bells (set to a salsa beat!) Whether you're strolling through a Spanish colonial city, shopping at traditional local street markets or hiking through the El Yunque rainforest, there are palm trees a-plenty in sunny Puerto Rico.

Bali, Indonesia

The island of Bali is a tranquil, tropical paradise that's perfect for an escape from Christmas tradition this year. Head for 'Tanah Lot', the island temple where you can witness a special ceremony for Christmas eve - the Gamelan gong is sounded and the festivities get underway! Fans of the book and movie 'Eat, Pray, Love' should head for Padang-Padang Beach, where scenes from the movie were filmed. Beauty, beaches and culture abound here, so whether you're snorkeling around Menjangan Island or lazing on the beach with a cocktail, you're sure to have a Christmas to remember here!

Goa, India

The wealthiest state in India, Goa is home to beautiful beaches and vibrant nightlife and a holiday here is something special. Head for the Saturday Night Market in Arpora for great shopping and street food, or take to the water for a boat ride on the Chapora River - if you're lucky you might even spot dolphins! Of course, you could always just pack a bestseller and laze on scenic Mandrem Beach - situated in North Goa, it's considered one of Asia's most beautiful beaches!

So forget the doom and gloom of British weather this year and head somewhere sunny, for a Christmas with a difference - you'll land back in the UK with a tan that will draw some envious glances from friends and family!
