Cheap Travel Insurance Keeps you Safe this Summer

Travel insurance is far from the most exciting thing to think about when it comes to planning your holiday and you're probably far too busy reading through guidebooks, researching online and planning the perfect activities to make your holiday really special to spend much time at all considering your travel insurance! But there's a reason that travel insurance exists and that's to protect you from anything that could possibly go wrong during your holiday abroad. With so many great deals available on travel insurance and cover available online in just a few clicks, there really is no excuse for heading off on holiday without insurance, no matter where you're going!

Cheap Deals

It's easy to find cheap travel insurance online and you'll find many insurers will cover kids for free, saving you even more money. With basic single trip cover starting at around £8 for a European holiday, you'll have plenty of money left over for souvenir shopping, dining and drinking when you get to your destination! If you're going to be travelling more than once in the next 12 months (lucky you) then it makes sense to take out annual travel insurance, which will cover you no matter how many times you travel! This is a great option for anyone travelling on business or visiting friends and family abroad.

What's on Offer?

With such cheap deals on offer, it's easy to wonder exactly what you're getting for your money. Most travel insurance policies will offer you £10 million of medical cover as standard - this covers everything from GP visits and prescriptions to emergency hospital care and can even cover the cost of an air ambulance if you're injured. Your baggage will also be covered against loss or theft and you can usually add optional extras such as gadget cover if you're going to be taking your smartphone, MP3 player, e-reader and camera with you! Cancellation and curtailment cover will protect you if your holiday plans are changed for any reason, for example if you are taken ill or made redundant.

If you're heading to Europe for your holiday, you should also make sure that you apply for an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), which will cover the cost of GP visits and basic medical care during your stay. This doesn't mean that you don't need travel insurance however and you should still take out a policy to cover yourself and your fellow travellers!

With cheap deals on travel insurance available from many leading insurers, there's no excuse for heading off on holiday unprotected. Remember to take your insurance documentation with you; oh and don't forget your sunscreen!
